ONLINE JOURNAL
These journal entries track our progress as we undertake our adventure of restoring this very old home. The main reason for keeping this journal on the web is that we have found that there are very few resources (books or websites) that follow all of the trials and tribulations of restoring an old home...from start to finish.

Was in NYC on business this weekend, so nothing new to report as far as progress on the house.
But there is progress on this website. The new Enon Hall Forum is now open! Use the Forum to post comments, questions, and advice about our Enon Hall restoration projects and we'll post our replies. Have fun! -- Bill

Sorry for the lack up updates lately! We returned late last night from a spring break vacation in Costa Rica! I hate to announce our vacations plans online since it's kind of like telling the world that we're going to be out of town...so sorry for leaving everybody hanging. Upon our return, we had lots of emails from folks checking on our well-being and complaining about "suffering withdrawals." Look for a new journal update next Sunday night as we get back into gear at Enon Hall.
Meanwhile, if you're interested, you can check out some Costa Rica vacation pictures here. -- Bill

OK, we're back in gear, with lots of photos to make up for the long absence.
First, here's a long overdue photo of the finished bathroom floor with the Velvit Oil finish.
We spent all weekend outdoors doing what we seem to do every March...clearing and pulling vines.
First, William and I finally cut up a large tree that fell beside the kitchen quarters in December.
Then the three of us spent the rest of the weekend working in the new lot...cutting trees and doing our best to strip the vines from the trees we wanted to keep. As usual, the vines put up quite a fight.
William was a huge help...
It was dirty, itchy, scratchy work. And by the time we were done (for the weekend) we had amassed several huge piles of trees.
As we worked we could start to get peeks of Enon Hall from the new lot.
Can you find the house in this one?
Was a very productive weekend. Now it's time to sit back and wait for the season's first case of poison ivy. -- Bill

Great strides were made at Enon Hall this week...but not by us. We recruited Mark Dameron (Enoneast Earth Maintenance) to clear out one giant wall of vegetation that we knew we could never get alone. 2 days and 10 dump truck loads later, you can really see the difference. The photo below was taken last weekend. Roll over it to see what the view looks like now.
Is spring coming or not? The daffodils are in bloom everywhere, but then it snowed all day today. -- Bill |
